Ease of management
Due to plane body selection our sheep require little commercial assistance. This means little or no fly strike, worm resistance and resilience and an ability to survive a range of climatic conditions.
Fertility
Our sires have had strong commercial approval with increased lambing percentages – (view client testimonials) In 2007, 42% of our lambs were born and raised as twins. Fertility is extremely important to us and our client base.
Mulesing
Having stopped mulesing our lambs in 2004,
Plain Bodies
Elimination of wrinkle (tightness) improve wool quality and cut.
Positive Fat
We select for positive fat in our sires as we believe it impacts very positively on fertility and constitution. This has since been backed up by research at Murdoch Uni, WA.
Good carcase with high growth and muscle
Aassisting us is data processed by Sheep Genetics Australia (SGA) developed using body & wool weights; fibre – diameter, CV, strength; maternal traits ie twin conceived and reared; and eye muscle and scrotal size. This information is indexed to give us an Australian Sheep Breeding Value (ASBV) which we use in sire selection and is also available for ram clients.
