Karbullah SRS® Poll Merinos and Boyanga Meateor Merinos are operated by the Mark and Vicki together with Robbie, Luke, Ben, and Joseph. The stud’s base is situated 70 km north of Goondiwindi, south east Queensland..
The Murphy's are very passionate about the Merino industry and endeavouring to prove Merinos are profitable and especially easy care with both excellent carcass and wool characteristics.
Our property consists of grey loam brigalow/belah, melon hole country blending to some timbered ridges with ironbark/pine jump ups running the depth of our place. Average annual rainfall is 24 inches but since January, 2000 Karbullah has been experiencing extreme weather patterns with many dry years. Previous to 2000 Karbullah was heavily cultivated, however, pasture restoration and no till pasture cropping has slowly put pasture throughout the block with the assistance of Oldman Saltbush and time grazing.
We have welcomed the challenges of the weather, making sheep selection decisions focused on high survival traits with the assistance of ASBV (Australian Sheep Breeding Values).
